GlasGogh Places began with a simple bit of imagination: what if Vincent van Gogh had painted Glasgow?

That idea opened the door. At first, the paintings were direct conversations with Van Gogh’s most recognisable works, Glasgow landmarks stepping into the colours, skies and brushwork of Arles, Saint-Rémy and Auvers. But over time, GlasGogh has grown into its own style: still inspired by Van Gogh, but no longer tied only to direct references.

This collection now celebrates Glasgow as it is today, characterful, cosmopolitan, weather-beaten, beautiful, bold and full of stories. It takes in grand buildings, riverside views, old tenements, wet pavements, parks, blossoms, music venues, familiar streets and unexpected corners of the city. Some places are iconic.

GlasGogh Places is not just Glasgow painted in the style of Van Gogh. It is Glasgow seen through the GlasGogh lens: a city of memory, humour, grit, beauty and imagination, painted with warmth, energy and plenty of cobalt blue.

Each painting has a unique frame. GlasGogh has environmental ambitions vision and many of the paintings have been housed in a reclaimed frame from the Van Gogh era. We are on the hunt for more to complete the sets!
