Irises at the Templeton draws inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s 1889 masterpieces Irises and Trees in the Garden of Saint-Paul, reimagining his iconic blooms within the striking setting of Glasgow’s Templeton on the Green.

The former Templeton Carpet Factory — opened in 1892 and designed to resemble a Venetian palace — provides a dramatic architectural backdrop. Its ornate red brick façade stands in bold contrast to the fluid movement of the irises, creating a powerful dialogue between industry and nature.

Echoes of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the asylum where Van Gogh painted some of his most expressive works, are woven into the sky and surrounding palette. Adapted tones and atmosphere reflect that Provençal influence, while the foreground bursts with vibrant blues and greens that merge seamlessly into Templeton’s historic brickwork.
