GlasGogh People is a playful and affectionate portrait collection that brings Vincent van Gogh’s famous sitters into conversation with modern Glasgow and Scottish culture.

Each painting begins with an original Van Gogh portrait, a postman, a young man, a friend, a figure from his world, and reimagines it with a familiar GlasGogh face. Comedians, actors, singers and cultural characters take the place of Van Gogh’s subjects, creating a new cast of portraits that celebrate personality, creativity and connection. The idea is simple: what if Van Gogh had met Glasgow?

The collection explores the links between past and present, Arles and Glasgow, portraiture and popular culture. Van Gogh painted people with feeling. GlasGogh follows that spirit by celebrating figures who carry their own stories, voices and emotional charge.

Each of GlasGogh’s original oil paintings are framed in an antique or temporary classically styled frame. These gathered from the charity shops of Glasgow. A way of bringing them back to life. Many of them are dated from the time of Van Gogh, old meets new and makes it shine again.
