Inspired by a visit to the Provand’s Lordship, Glasgow’s oldest house, this painting reimagines its historic garden through the colour, rhythm and warmth of Van Gogh’s hospital garden in Arles. The structured paths, soft planting and old stone architecture recall those garde, where Van Gogh found both stillness and inspiration.

In this GlasGogh mash-up, Glasgow’s medieval heart meets the light of southern France. The cool blue sky, golden greens and expressive brushwork bring Van Gogh’s palette into a familiar Glasgow setting, turning the Provand’s Lordship garden into a place of memory, healing and quiet wonder. It is a conversation between two gardens, two cities and two moments of artistic reflection.
